Description

The Hot Tub Serum Turbo Triple Action Mineral Stick is a natural mineral purifier that makes your spa water cleaner, softer, and easier to care for — while letting you use far less chlorine or bromine. It drops right into your filter housing and goes to work with the power of silver and copper, the minerals that have been used to fight bacteria and algae for centuries.

The "triple action" name captures what it does: it reduces bacteria naturally, softens and conditions the water so it's gentler on skin and eyes, and helps protect your equipment from the scale and corrosion that shorten a spa's life. Because the minerals do part of the sanitizing work, you can cut your traditional sanitizer down to a fraction of the usual level — less chemical smell, softer water, and a more natural soak.

Best of all, it's effortless: one stick lasts up to four months. There's no measuring, no daily dosing — just drop it in and let it work.

Pro Tip: A mineral stick reduces your sanitizer, it doesn't eliminate it. Minerals can't kill enough bacteria on their own, so you still keep a small sanitizer residual in the water — roughly 0.5 ppm chlorine or 1 ppm bromine instead of the usual full level. That low residual plus the minerals is what keeps the water safe, while you enjoy noticeably less chemical and softer water.

Hot Tub Serum®

What's in the Box
  • 1 x Hot Tub Serum Turbo Triple Action Mineral Stick (mineral purifier cartridge; lasts up to 4 months)
Key Features
  • Triple action — reduces bacteria, softens water, and helps protect equipment
  • Cuts chlorine/bromine use — minerals do part of the work, so you dose far less sanitizer
  • Softer, gentler water — less harsh on skin and eyes, with less chemical smell
  • Protects your spa — helps reduce scale buildup and corrosion on equipment
  • Lasts up to 4 months — one stick treats 200–650 gallons for the full period
  • Effortless — drops into the filter housing; no strings, hooks, or daily dosing
How It Works

The stick is packed with silver and copper. As spa water circulates through the filter housing and past the stick, it picks up a controlled, slow release of these minerals: silver is a proven antibacterial, and copper fights algae. Together they create an environment that's hostile to microbial growth, doing a share of the sanitizing that chlorine or bromine would otherwise handle alone.

That slow-release design is why one stick lasts up to four months — and why it's so easy to use, dispensing the right amount automatically every time. Since the minerals reduce (but don't replace) your sanitizer, you keep a low residual in the water and add a weekly oxidizer shock to burn off organic waste and keep everything clear.

Pro Tip: Replace the stick every time you drain and refill. A mineral stick's life and your water-change schedule line up naturally — both run about three to four months — so swapping in a fresh stick with every new fill keeps you on an easy rhythm and ensures the minerals never run out mid-cycle. Mark the date on the stick or your calendar so you don't lose track.

Directions for Use

Balance your spa water to the manufacturer's specifications before use, and maintain a low sanitizer residual at all times.

  1. Install: Simply drop the mineral stick inside the filter housing (or filter cartridge, basket, or filter well). No support sticks, string, or hooks are needed. To avoid restricting flow, don't wedge it where it blocks water movement — use the filter well if needed.
  2. Balance: Adjust your water to proper levels (pH, alkalinity, and calcium hardness) and keep a low sanitizer residual in the water.
  3. Shock after use: After each spa use, add 1 tablespoon of oxidizer shock (potassium peroxymonosulfate) per person, per 250 gallons of water.
  4. If water becomes cloudy, continue to use your current sanitizer as directed until it clears.
  5. Replace the stick after 4 months, or whenever you drain, clean, and refill the spa.

Pro Tip: Don't skip the weekly oxidizer shock. The minerals handle bacteria, but they don't burn off the oils, sweat, and organic waste bathers leave behind — that's the oxidizer shock's job. Pairing the mineral stick with a regular non-chlorine shock is what keeps the water not just sanitary but genuinely clear and fresh.

  • Weekly Care: Add 1 tbsp oxidizer shock (potassium peroxymonosulfate) per person per 250 gallons after use
  • Compatible Systems: Chlorine, bromine, ozone, UV, and salt; works with non-chlorine shock
  • Note: Contains copper — keep water balanced (avoid low pH) to prevent staining
  • Replace: Every 4 months or at each drain-and-refill
  • Shipping: Standard ground; not classified as a hazardous material
Compatibility

The Turbo Mineral Stick is compatible with chlorine, bromine, ozone, UV, and salt systems — it enhances whatever sanitizer you already run, letting you use less of it. It works with non-chlorine (oxidizer) shock, too.

It's designed to drop into most spa filter housings, cartridges, or filter wells. You'll still want your pH and alkalinity balancers and a reliable test kit or strips to keep the water in range and confirm your (now lower) sanitizer residual. One note for mineral systems: because copper is present, keep your water balanced and avoid low pH, which can encourage copper to stain surfaces.

Hot Tub Serum® Brand FAQs

What is Hot Tub Serum, and how is it different from other spa chemicals?

Hot Tub Serum is an EPA-registered water care line built around one idea most spa chemicals ignore: cleaning and protecting the inside of your spa's plumbing. Its products prevent and remove biofilm— the bacterial sludge that builds up in pipes and jets and keeps re-contaminating your water. Made by Serum Watercare, the line is registered with the EPA in all 50 states.

Does Hot Tub Serum replace my sanitizer?

No. Hot Tub Serum works along side your sanitizer, not instead of it. You still need to maintain an EPA-approved sanitizer (chlorine, bromine, salt, or a mineral system) at proper levels. Serum keeps your plumbing clean and makes your sanitizer more effective — so most owners end up using less of their other chemicals — but a sanitizer is always required.

What is biofilm, and why does it matter in a hot tub?

Biofilm is a slimy layer of bacteria that forms inside spa plumbing where you can't see or reach it. It protects the bacteria within it from your sanitizer, which is why an untreated spa can stay cloudy, smelly, or sanitizer-hungry no matter how carefully you dose. Because it hides in the pipes, it keeps coming back until it's addressed at the source — which is exactly what Hot Tub Serum targets.

How does the Hot Tub Serum Total Clean System work?

It's a simple two-step regimen. First,Total Cleanse is added before a drain-and-refill to purge existing biofilm and gunk out of the plumbing. Then, once the spa is refilled,Total Maintenance is added weekly to keep that biofilm from ever coming back. Purge to clean, maintain to keep it clean.

Is Hot Tub Serum compatible with my sanitizer system?

Yes. Hot Tub Serum is compatible with all sanitizing systems — chlorine, bromine, salt water generators, biguanide, and mineral systems such as The Frog®, @ease®, and Nature2®. It's also unaffected by pH swings, cyanuric acid, and common oxidizers, so it keeps working even when your water chemistry drifts.

Is there a warranty benefit to using Hot Tub Serum?

Serum Watercare offers a Lifetime Jet Warranty for owners who use Total Maintenance weekly through an authorized dealer's auto-ship program. Because jet failure is often caused by scale and water-chemistry buildup that Serum helps prevent, the program covers replacement of removable jet inserts that fail due to water chemistry. Ask us about enrolling.

About Hot Tub Serum®

Hot Tub Serum is a water care brand from Serum Watercare, built on a simple insight the rest of the industry overlooked: the biggest threat to clean hot tub water isn't in the water you can see — it's the biofilm hidden inside your plumbing. Where conventional chemicals only treat the water in the shell, Serum's EPA-registered formulas clean and protect the pipes, jets, and internal surfaces where bacterial sludge takes hold.

The result is the Total Clean System: a purge product (Total Cleanse) that scrubs existing biofilm out of the plumbing before a drain-and-refill, and a weekly maintenance product (Total Maintenance) that keeps it from ever returning. Registered with the EPA in all 50 states and backed by a first-of-its-kind Lifetime Jet Warranty for regular users, Hot Tub Serum is designed to make spa care simpler while protecting the equipment you've invested in — for water that stays clear, soft, and fresh with less work.
