Description

Sirona Calcium Booster is a liquid calcium hardness increaser that goes into solution the moment it hits the water. It raises your spa's calcium level quickly and easily — no granules to dissolve, no powder settling on the shell — to stop foaming and protect your equipment from corrosion.

Calcium hardness is the most overlooked reading in spa care, and low calcium causes two problems people rarely connect to it. First, soft water is corrosive: with too little calcium of its own, the water pulls minerals from wherever it can find them — your heater, pump seals, jets, and fittings — quietly shortening the life of expensive equipment. Second, low calcium is one of the leading causes of stubborn foam. If you're constantly fighting suds, low hardness is very often the real culprit.

Bringing calcium into the 150–400 ppm range solves both at once, and it makes the water feel better too. The liquid format makes it about as easy as spa care gets: pour, circulate, done — and get back to the soothing soak you bought your spa for.

Pro Tip: Chronic foam? Check your calcium before you buy more defoamer. A defoamer clears foam on the surface, but if low calcium hardness is what's causing it, the suds keep coming back. Test your hardness — if it's under 150 ppm, raising it with Calcium Booster fixes the cause rather than the symptom, and you'll find you reach for the defoamer far less.

How It Works

Calcium Booster adds dissolved calcium directly to your water, raising the calcium hardness reading. Water is naturally "hungry" for minerals: when it's low in calcium, it becomes aggressive and corrosive, drawing what it needs from your spa's metal components and surfaces. Give it enough calcium and that hunger is satisfied — the water becomes stable and non-corrosive.

The target range is 150–400 ppm: enough calcium to keep the water balanced, but not so much that it deposits as scale. Dosing is predictable — 1 fluid ounce raises calcium hardness about 7 ppm in 500 gallons — so you can calculate exactly what your spa needs. And because calcium hardness is stable once set, it isn't a weekly chore: correct it on a fresh fill and it holds until your next water change.

Pro Tip: If you fill from a water softener, you need this product. Softened water has had its calcium deliberately stripped out, which makes it aggressively corrosive in a hot tub — exactly the wrong water to run through an expensive heater. Test your fill water and bring hardness up to range right away, before that soft water has time to start working on your equipment.

Directions for Use

Test the water first with Sirona test strips to determine how much Calcium Booster you need. Maintain a calcium level between 150 and 400 ppm. Add directly to the spa water with the circulation system running.

  1. Test your calcium hardness to find your starting level.
  2. Calculate your dose: 1 fluid ounce raises calcium hardness about 7 ppm in 500 gallons of water.
  3. With the circulation running, pour the measured amount directly into the spa water. It goes into solution immediately — no pre-dissolving needed.
  4. Let the water circulate, then retest and repeat as needed until hardness sits in the 150–400 ppm range.

Pro Tip: Sneak up on your target — don't overshoot. Calcium is easy to add but very hard to remove: the only real way to lower it is to drain part of the water and refill with softer water. Add a calculated dose, let it circulate, retest, and add more only if you need it. A little patience here saves you a partial drain later.

Compatibility

Sirona Calcium Booster is compatible with chlorine, bromine, ozone, and biguanide sanitizers — including the Sirona Simply system. As a balancer, it's part of the foundation you set when filling the spa, regardless of how you sanitize.

It completes the Sirona balancing set alongside Spa UpSpa Down, and Alkalinity Up, and pairs with Sirona test strips to read your hardness level. The proper sequence on a fresh fill is total alkalinity first, then pH, then calcium hardness. It's also the root-cause partner to Foam Out: the defoamer clears foam now, while correct calcium keeps it from returning. Add it directly to the spa water; never mix it with other products in the same container.

Sirona® Brand FAQs

What is Sirona, and what makes it different?

Sirona is a spa care brand built around whole-self wellness. Named for the Celtic goddess of healing waters, it treats your spa as more than a hot tub — a place to restore both body and mind. Sirona offers a full line of sanitizers, balancers, cleaners, clarifiers, and specialty products designed to keep your water safe, simple to maintain, and beautifully clear, so it can take better care of you.

Is Sirona compatible with my current sanitizer?

Yes. Most Sirona products are compatible with all common sanitizer systems, including chlorine, bromine, salt water, ozone, and mineral systems. Sirona also offers the Simply collection, a complete chlorine-free and bromine-free biguanide alternative for those who prefer it. Check each product page for its specific compatibility.

Do I have to use only Sirona products together?

No. Sirona products are designed to work as acoordinated system, but they're also compatible with standard spa water chemistry, so you can introduce them into your existing routine. Many owners start with one or two Sirona products and build from there — using the line together simply makes balancing, sanitizing, and clarifying more seamless.

Is Sirona good for my skin?

Skin comfort is central to Sirona's approach. Balanced, well-maintained water is far gentler on skin and eyes than neglected water, and Sirona's specialty products go further:Spa Nourish is enriched with aloe vera and hyaluronic acid to leave skin soft and refreshed, and the Aromatherapy Bliss line adds terpene-infused, skin-conditioning soaks. The goal is water that cares for you as much as you care for it.

What is the Sirona Simply system?

Sirona Simply is Sirona's chlorine-free and bromine-free line, built around a few core biguanide-based products that sanitize, oxidize, and control waterline buildup without traditional sanitizers. It's designed for spa owners who want gentler water and less chemical odor while keeping their spa clean and clear.

How do I keep my Sirona spa water crystal clear?

Clear water comes from a simple, consistent routine: keep your sanitizer at the proper level, test and balance pH and alkalinity regularly, clean your filter, and use a clarifier at start-up and weekly to polish out fine particles. Sirona's balancers, clarifiers, and specialty cleaners are formulated to work together toward that sparkling, sanctuary-clear result.
