Description

Sirona Foam Out is a fast-acting, concentrated defoamer that makes a foamy spa calm and clear again in moments. Apply it directly to the foam and watch the suds disappear — it works on contact, and used regularly it helps prevent foam from coming back.

Foam is one of the most common — and most frustrating — spa annoyances. A layer of suds on the surface makes the water look dirty and unappealing, and it can turn a relaxing soak into an unpleasant one. It usually appears from a buildup of body oils, lotions, soaps, and detergents in the water, or from water that's low in calcium. Whatever the trigger, Foam Out clears the surface fast, restoring the calm, clear water that makes your spa inviting again.

Its concentrated formula means a tiny amount does the job, so a single bottle lasts a long time — and because it works instantly, there's no waiting and no need to drain and refill just to get rid of foam. It's the quick, reliable rescue that keeps your soothing soak exactly that.

Pro Tip: Foam Out treats the symptom — for a lasting fix, address the cause. Foam almost always comes from built-up body oils and lotions or from low calcium hardness. Use Foam Out for instant relief, then tackle the root: rinse off before soaking, use an enzyme to break down oils, keep your filter clean, and check that your calcium hardness is in range. Do that and you'll reach for the defoamer far less often.

How It Works

Foam forms when dissolved contaminants — oils, lotions, soaps — lower the water's surface tension, letting the agitation from your jets whip up long-lasting bubbles. Foam Out works by breaking the surface tension of those bubbles, causing the foam to collapse the instant the product touches it. That's why you see suds vanish on contact.

Because it acts on the physical foam rather than on your water chemistry, it clears the surface without disrupting your pH, alkalinity, or sanitizer. Used weekly, it keeps that surface tension in check so foam has a harder time building up in the first place. A little goes a long way — the formula is concentrated enough that no more than a half teaspoon is needed per application.

Pro Tip: Less is more — never overpour. It's tempting to add extra when foam is stubborn, but too much defoamer can actually leave a residue and cause its own problems. Stick to a half teaspoon, apply it right onto the foam with the jets running, and give it ten minutes. If foam remains, then repeat — a second small dose beats one big one.

Directions for Use

Apply with the spa in operation. Do not use more than one-half (1/2) teaspoon at a time.

To Eliminate Existing Foam

  1. Apply a small amount (no more than 1/2 teaspoon) directly onto the surface of the foam, with the spa running.
  2. Wait about 10 minutes. If the foam has not subsided, repeat the treatment.

To Prevent Foaming

  1. Apply a small amount (no more than 1/2 teaspoon) directly onto the surface of the water.
  2. Repeat if foaming begins to occur. Using it weekly helps keep foam from building up.

Pro Tip: Have people shower before they soak. Most spa foam is fuel supplied by bathers — deodorant, lotion, hair product, laundry detergent in swimwear, even body oils. A quick rinse before getting in removes most of that at the source, so you keep the water calm and clear and rely on the defoamer only for the occasional touch-up.

Compatibility

Sirona Foam Out is compatible with all sanitizer systems — chlorine, bromine, salt water, ozone, minerals, Spa Frog, and biguanide (including Sirona Simply). Because it works on the foam itself rather than your water chemistry, it fits any routine without affecting how you sanitize or balance.

It also works beyond the hot tub — in therapeutic pools and fountains wherever unwanted foam appears. For the best long-term results, pair it with an enzyme (to digest the oils that cause foam), a calcium increaser (since low calcium promotes foaming), and regular filter cleaning. Apply it directly to the water; there's no need to pre-mix.

Sirona® Brand FAQs

What is Sirona, and what makes it different?

Sirona is a spa care brand built around whole-self wellness. Named for the Celtic goddess of healing waters, it treats your spa as more than a hot tub — a place to restore both body and mind. Sirona offers a full line of sanitizers, balancers, cleaners, clarifiers, and specialty products designed to keep your water safe, simple to maintain, and beautifully clear, so it can take better care of you.

Is Sirona compatible with my current sanitizer?

Yes. Most Sirona products are compatible with all common sanitizer systems, including chlorine, bromine, salt water, ozone, and mineral systems. Sirona also offers the Simply collection, a complete chlorine-free and bromine-free biguanide alternative for those who prefer it. Check each product page for its specific compatibility.

Do I have to use only Sirona products together?

No. Sirona products are designed to work as acoordinated system, but they're also compatible with standard spa water chemistry, so you can introduce them into your existing routine. Many owners start with one or two Sirona products and build from there — using the line together simply makes balancing, sanitizing, and clarifying more seamless.

Is Sirona good for my skin?

Skin comfort is central to Sirona's approach. Balanced, well-maintained water is far gentler on skin and eyes than neglected water, and Sirona's specialty products go further:Spa Nourish is enriched with aloe vera and hyaluronic acid to leave skin soft and refreshed, and the Aromatherapy Bliss line adds terpene-infused, skin-conditioning soaks. The goal is water that cares for you as much as you care for it.

What is the Sirona Simply system?

Sirona Simply is Sirona's chlorine-free and bromine-free line, built around a few core biguanide-based products that sanitize, oxidize, and control waterline buildup without traditional sanitizers. It's designed for spa owners who want gentler water and less chemical odor while keeping their spa clean and clear.

How do I keep my Sirona spa water crystal clear?

Clear water comes from a simple, consistent routine: keep your sanitizer at the proper level, test and balance pH and alkalinity regularly, clean your filter, and use a clarifier at start-up and weekly to polish out fine particles. Sirona's balancers, clarifiers, and specialty cleaners are formulated to work together toward that sparkling, sanctuary-clear result.
