Finnleo Designer Series FAQs
What makes the Finnleo Designer Series unique?
The Finnleo Designer Series combines an authentic Finnish sauna experience with upscale, Scandinavian-inspired styling. Each model features clean architectural lines, premium woodwork, generous use of glass, integrated lighting, and a free-standing modular design that can be assembled inside the home.
Are Finnleo Designer Series saunas traditional or infrared?
Designer Series models are traditional electric saunas. The electric heater warms both the room and the sauna stones, creating the higher temperatures associated with a traditional Finnish sauna. They do not use infrared heating panels.
Which sauna models are available in the Designer Series?
The Designer Series includes four models:
- Vita II: Compact 63-by-63-inch footprint with seating for two to three people
- Centurion: 84 by 72 inches with seating for four to five people
- Twilight: 84 by 72 inches with seating for four to five people
- Solace: 84 by 72 inches with seating for four to five people
Each model offers a different combination of wood finishes, glass, seating arrangements, and design details.
Can a Finnleo Designer sauna be installed outdoors?
No. The Designer Series is intended for indoor installation. These saunas are well suited for master bathrooms, home gyms, finished basements, dedicated wellness rooms, and other climate-controlled interior spaces.
What is included with a Finnleo Designer Series sauna?
Standard equipment includes pre-built wall and ceiling panels, benches, backrests, RGBW color lighting, a traditional electric heater, sauna stones, a heater guard, a SaunaLogic2 control, a pre-hung glass door, and a sauna bucket and ladle. A Bluetooth audio soundbar is available as an optional upgrade.
How are Designer Series saunas controlled?
Designer Series saunas include Finnleo’s SaunaLogic2 control system. It allows you to manage sauna temperature, operating time, lighting, and other functions from the wall-mounted control or through the compatible mobile app.
Can water be poured over the sauna stones?
Yes. Small amounts of fresh tap water can be ladled over the heated stones to produce steam and increase humidity. This lets each user adjust the sauna from a drier heat to a softer, more humid experience. Chlorinated pool or spa water should never be used because it can damage the heater.
What installation requirements should be considered?
A Designer Series sauna should be installed on a level, water-resistant surface such as tile or concrete. A floor drain is not normally required, but the sauna should never be installed directly over carpet. These models also typically require a dedicated 240-volt electrical connection installed according to the sauna’s specifications and applicable electrical codes.
Can the layout or appearance of a Designer Series sauna be customized?
Designer Series saunas are offered in established sizes, materials, and configurations rather than being fully custom-built. However, each model is available in either its standard orientation or a mirror-image layout, making it easier to accommodate different room arrangements and entry locations.
How should a Finnleo Designer sauna be cleaned and maintained?
Finnleo saunas require relatively little routine maintenance. After use, lightly clean the benches and other interior surfaces with plain water, leave the door open, and allow the room to dry completely. The interior wood should not be painted, stained, or varnished because the wood needs to breathe and release accumulated heat and moisture naturally.
Sauna Safety Tips
Saunas can be a relaxing and beneficial part of a wellness routine, but it is important to use them safely. Start with shorter sessions, especially if you are new to sauna use, and limit most sessions to about 15–20 minutes. Drink plenty of water before and after using the sauna, and avoid alcohol before, during, or immediately after your session, since heat and sweating can increase the risk of dehydration or dizziness. Always cool down gradually after exiting the sauna, and leave right away if you feel lightheaded, nauseous, weak, or uncomfortable. People who are pregnant, have heart conditions, low or high blood pressure, or other medical concerns should speak with a healthcare provider before using a sauna.

Which Wood Is Best for Indoor vs. Outdoor Saunas?
Idaho's combination of sub-zero winters, intense summer sun, and constant freeze-thaw cycling makes choosing the right sauna wood critical — especially for outdoor installations. This guide compares 10 wood species including western red cedar, Canadian hemlock, Nordic spruce, thermo hemlock, thermo pine, thermo aspen, Japanese cedar, and Hinoki. We explain what each wood handles well, where it falls short, and give specific recommendations for indoor and outdoor saunas in Idaho's climate — including which woods to avoid and how to maintain them for 20–30+ years of use.
Best Sauna for Idaho Homes: Indoor vs. Outdoor Buyer's Guide
A sauna is one of the most rewarding wellness additions you can make to an Idaho home — and after a day on the slopes or a cold morning, that deep heat feels even better. But first you face a fundamental choice: indoor or outdoor? That single decision shapes everything — placement, install cost, how it handles Idaho's freeze-thaw winters, and the whole ritual of using it. This buyer's guide compares indoor and outdoor saunas head to head, breaks down traditional vs. infrared (and the Finnleo InfraSauna hybrid), covers heaters and sizing, and explains why Finnleo and Tylö's Finnish-Swedish heritage — including Tylö's world-class heaters — makes them built to last through every Idaho winter.

Two landmark Finnish studies — following over 16,000 participants for up to 39 years — found that regular sauna use is associated with dramatically lower risk of dementia and Alzheimer's disease. This guide breaks down what the research actually says, explains the six biological mechanisms that make sauna bathing protective for the brain, and shows you how to incorporate sauna use into a brain-healthy lifestyle.
