Returns On Hazardous Materials
Some of the products we sell — primarily spa and pool chemicals — are classified as hazardous materials by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT). These items can't be returned to us by mail, even though we'd like to make returns easy on every product. This page explains why the rule exists, what's covered, and what your options are if you have unopened chemicals you no longer need.
The short version: We can't accept hazmat returns by mail (federal regulations prohibit it), but we can accept them in person at our Idaho Falls, Boise, or Twin Falls showrooms. If a product arrived damaged or defective, that's handled differently — call us right away and we'll work with the manufacturer on a replacement or refund.
GLB Alkalinity Up
Overview
GLB Alkalinity Up increases total alkalinity in swimming pool water. Maintaining proper alkalinity aids in preventing the pH level from changing. Keeping your pool water balanced is an important step in getting the most out of and preserving the life of pool equipment. This product is easy to apply, just pour it directly into the pool. Alkalinity Up can be used with chlorine, bromine, ozone, salt water pools, and biguanide sanitizers.

Directions
- To keep the pH value of the swimming pool in a stable condition, it is important to maintain the total alkalinity value between the levels of 75 ppm to 125 ppm.
- Determine the level of total alkalinity in your pool by the use of a suitable test kit. If the value is below 75 ppm, add a sufficient amount of GLB Alkalinity Up by pouring it directly into the pool - to increase the total alkalinity to at least 75 ppm. 1 1/2 pounds of GLB Alkalinity Up will provide approximately 10 ppm increase in total alkalinity for each 10,000 gallons of water. Wait at least 8 hours for the material to distribute uniformly before rechecking the alkalinity level.
