Fire up your grill this Thanksgiving week for a delectable twist on a classic dessert. This crumb-topped grilled apple pie combines the warmth of tradition with the excitement of outdoor cooking. Perfect with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, this pie is a must-try for your Thanksgiving feast.

INGREDIENTS

  • All-purpose flour

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves

  • 6 large apples (8 cups, sliced)

  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar

  • 1/4 cup (2-ounces) cold unsalted butter, cut into pieces

  • Vanilla ice cream, optional

DIRECTIONS

  1. Roll out dough to an 11-inch circle, place in a 9-inch pie pan, and preheat the grill for indirect cooking at 400°F.

  2. Combine 2 tablespoons flour, sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves in a small bowl.

  3. In a large bowl, toss apple slices with lemon juice to prevent browning. Add the flour-sugar mixture to coat the apples.

  4. In a medium bowl, combine 1/2 cup flour with brown sugar. Cut in butter with a pastry cutter until it resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the apples.

  5. Place the pie on a cookie sheet and grill indirectly for 50-60 minutes until the apples are tender and bubbly. Allow the pie to cool for about 2 hours before serving. Top with vanilla ice cream and enjoy.
